In the second chapter of Song of Solomon, the young maiden makes a bold declaration: “I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.”
She, representing the bride of Christ, has come to a profound realization. She is able to see that she is the Son of God’s very own inheritance. Her confession is more than the fact that she is lovely and desired by Jesus; She now understands that she is His eternal inheritance. She is the prize that has been promised to Him.
When we, the bride of Christ, begin to see ourselves in this light, it redefines our lives. When we realize that our highest identity in life is the prize of God’s Son, something powerful happens in our hearts, and we begin to live in a way that makes us powerful against our enemy. We become confident in God’s love and affections towards us, and we no longer believe the accusations of the enemy.
There is no other rose, no other inheritance offered to Him. It is you alone that He is after. It is you alone that moves His heart. Humanity is the rose!
