This is our portion when we do not come into His sanctuary. Listen to the plight of the psalmist before He comes into the sanctuary, the place of intimacy with God:
Truly I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of your children. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
“Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood…” Psalm 73:17
“There is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.” Rom 3:11
“God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.” Psalm 53:2
We must go into the sanctuary of God. His sanctuary is in His throne room. But His sanctuary is your bedroom. His sanctuary is in your bathroom. It’s wherever you go and close the door behind you. It’s wherever you meditate on His Word and sing and speak it back to Him. It’s wherever you worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. If you do not go there, you will be in the same state as the psalmist crying similar complaints.
Seek God where He may be found. In His sanctuary.
